Cam Newton Nearly Unanimous As NFL MVP

Cam Newton has been named NFL Most Valuable Player for the 2015 season.

Newton led the Panthers to a franchise-best 15-1 record and the No. 1 seed in the NFC. He threw for 3,837 passing yards with a 59.7 completion percentage along with a career-high 35 passing touchdowns and career-low 10 interceptions.

Newton received 48 votes while Tom Brady and Carson Palmer each received one vote.

Ron Rivera Named Coach Of The Year

Ron Rivera has been named Coach of the Year for the second time in three seasons.

Rivera led the Carolina Panthers to the best record in the NFL during the regular season.

Rivera received 36 1-2 votes, well ahead of Andy Reid's six votes.

Cam Newton has been named the 2015 Offensive Player of the Year.

Newton had 35 passing touchdowns and an additional 10 rushing while throwing for 3,847 yards.

Newton received 18 votes followed by Antonio Brown with 10.

J.J. Watt Named Defensive Player Of The Year

J.J. Watt has been named the 2015 Defensive Player of the Year, the third of his career.

"I was a 2-star recruit coming out and now I have three (Defensive Player of the Year) awards," Watt said after accepting the award. "So ... screw all of you guys for doubting me."

 

Watt received 37 votes, beating out Aaron Donald (7) and Luke Kuechly (4).

Watt joined Lawrence Taylor as the only players to win the award three times.

Marcus Peters Named Defensive Rookie Of The Year

Marcus Peters of the Kansas City Chiefs has been named the Defensive Rookie of the Year. Peters emerged as a lockdown cornerback for the Chiefs.

Peters received 45 votes compared to four for Ronald Darby of the Buffalo Bills.

"He tied for first in the league in interceptions and led in pass breakups. I thought he had the physical capabilities to be one of the better corners in the league coming out of the draft, and he was just that," NFL Media analyst Willie McGinest said this week. "He's aggressive, plays the ball like a receiver and has a great skill set."

Todd Gurley Named Offensive Rookie Of The Year

Todd Gurley has been named the 2015 Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Gurley won the award with 27 votes, beating out Jameis Winston (17) and Amari Cooper (4).

Gurley finished his rookie season with 1,106 yards in 13 games.
